Helming Athletics “How To”: Front Squatting for Triathletes

Once Triathletes understand the basics of squatting mechanics, we load it up with the back squat. Once the back squat is established, we can move to the Front Squat! Now while the basic mechanics are the SAME, we have to tweak our squat position a little bit as we now have this bar racked on our shoulders in front.
Front squatting challenges our mobility, especially in the shoulders and ankles by forcing us to be very upright. It also teaches how to open up our hips up even more (knees out!) to stay upright powerfully and safely without compromising our spine or our knees
