Helming Athletics “How To”: Deadlifts for Triathletes

Deadlifting is not only a key exercise for increasing Triathlon performance, it’s also a crucial and unavoidable life skill: the ability to pick up and move heavy things from the ground.
Triathletes especially are characterized as quad dominant and weak in the posterior chain, particularly the glutes and hamstrings. A proper deadlift teaches athletes how to load the posterior chain safely and powerfully while maintaining a strong and stable spine. This lift translates excellently to more powerful swimming, cycling, and running in addition to reducing injuries particularly in the hamstrings and low back.
